titleOfInvention | Method for producing chloranil |
abstract | (57) [Summary] [Objective] Hydroquinone is chlorinated under mild conditions and by a simple operation method to produce high-purity chloranil with high bulk specific gravity that is easy to handle. In a method for producing chloranil by chlorinating hydroquinone with chlorine gas in hydrochloric acid and an organic solvent which is incompatible with it, for example, a heterogeneous mixed solvent of o-dichlorobenzene, at least 3 mol per 1 mol of hydroquinone. The reaction is carried out under pressure of hydrogen chloride while supplying chlorine gas in an amount of ˜5 times mol. |
