abstract (57) [Summary] [Structure] [Chemical Formula 1] An ester compound represented by, a liquid crystal composition containing the same, and a liquid crystal display device using the liquid crystal composition. [Effect] This compound has a large positive dielectric anisotropy, a large birefringence, and a high NI point. By using a liquid crystal composition in which these compounds are mixed, a TN type or STN of high time division driving at low voltage is used. Type liquid crystal display device is obtained.
