abstract (57) [Summary] (Corrected) [Purpose] It has suitable flexibility and compressibility, is easy to load into the stuffing box, and is compatible with low tightening pressure. It provides a packing that has a good sealing property and is easy to take out with a packing tool after use. [Structure] A flexible graphite tape 1 having a width of 6 mm or more is covered with a knitting bag body 2 of a fibrous material to form a knitting yarn A, and the knitting yarn A is narrowed down by stretching in the longitudinal direction. The graphite tape 1 is plastically deformed in the widthwise direction by 2 and the widthwise both ends of the graphite tape are projected from the stitches of the knitting bag body 2 in a sawtooth shape to form the protruding portion 1b. Next, the packing 3 is constructed by braiding a plurality of these knitting yarns in a braiding machine into a string shape. Due to the tensile force and the twisting force acting on the knitting yarn A during the braiding, the graphite protrusion 1b Is plastically deformed like a scale as indicated by reference numeral 1c, and the inside and outside of the fiber are almost completely covered with graphite.
