titleOfInvention Production of optically active 3-phenyl-1,3-propanediol
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject propanediol having high optical purity and useful as an important synthetic intermediate for pharmaceuticals with a simple method at a low cost by treating an enantiomer mixture of a specific propanediol with a specific microorganism. n CONSTITUTION: An enantiomer mixture of 3-phenyl-1,3-propanediol is treated with a microorganism belonging to genus Protaminobacter or its treated product and the residual objective propanediol is collected. Preferably, a microorganism belonging to genus Escherichia, Micrococcus, Corynebacterium, etc., is used as the microorganism and the mixture is treated with the treated product, etc., of the microorganism. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
