abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the title multifilament having specific properties, integrity between filaments reduced as much as possible and improved water absorbing properties, comprising specific thick and thin filaments having a dented part as a capillary path of open part in a cross section. n CONSTITUTION: The objective multifilament comprising filament composed of polyethylene terephthalate of base polymer, having a dented part in cross section, thick parts and thin parts alternately along the longer direction, a ratio of a denier d 1 of the thick parts and a denier d 2 of the thin parts of ≥3 and difference in shrinkage between the thick parts and the thin parts wherein value P 50 at 50cm period on Uster spectrography obtained by normal test is ≤0.4 the maximum value P max . The multifilament, for example, is obtained by drawing undrawn polyester yarn of low orientation, which is spun at a low speed and latently thick and thin, at a low draw ratio to sufficiently cause unevenness while extremely dispersing unevenness. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
