titleOfInvention Nonlinear optical material containing urea
abstract PURPOSE: To increase the quadratic nonlinearity generating performance for the purpose of various kinds of nonlinear optical materials by using the solid soln. of a specific compd. and urea deriv. n CONSTITUTION: The solid soln. of the compd. expressed by formula and the urea deriv. is used. In the formula, Ar denotes 6 to 14C arom. group; X, Y denote a nitro group, nitrile group, etc.; Z denotes -COOH or -SO 3 H. The crystal compd. of the solid soln. which consists of arom. carboxylic acid/sulfonic acid deriv. and the urea deriv. and has not inversion symmetry has a high nonlinear effect and, therefore, this material is widely utilizable as optical systems to be used for optical data processing, information processing or optical communication systems of elements, such as bistable elements and optical switches, to be used for optical arithmetic processing. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
