titleOfInvention Aromatic copolyester
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new thermotropic liquid crystalline copolymer giving a molded material having excellent mechanical strength and having crystalline property able to be melt processed at a relatively low temperature comprising specific five species of repeating unit. n CONSTITUTION: The aimed copolymer is composed of repeating units expressed by formula I to formula V (R is H or 1-8C alkyl, etc.) and having 0-85/100 molar ratio of the units I/(I+II+III+IV), 5/100-1 molar ratio of the units (II+ III)/(II+III+IV), ⊖1 molar ratio of the units II/(II+III) and equimolar amounts of the units II+III+IV and the unit V. The unit I is preferably derived from p-hydroxybenzoic acid, etc., and the unit II is from 3,3'-dimethyl biphenyl-4,4'- dicarboxylic acid, etc., the unit III is from 3,4'dimethyl biphenyl-4,3'-dicarboxylic acid, etc., the unit IV is from terephthalic acid, etc., and the unit V is preferably derived from hydroquinone, etc., respectively. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
