abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a sustained release suppository containing a drug-active component and curdlan, enabling the sustained release of the drug active component, eliminable by evacuation after use and exhibiting high safety. n CONSTITUTION: The objective suppository contains a drug-active component and curdlan. Preferable examples of the drug-active component are indomethacin, diclofenac sodium and ibuprofen. Curdlan is a water-insoluble straight-chain polysaccharide having a polymerization degree of about 500 and called as β -1,3-glucan.
