abstract |
PURPOSE: To effectively reduce soot and harmful gas components being included in exhaust gas by making up a backwash type particulate filter of a gas- permeable ceramic filter whose inside surfaces of bores are used as filtering surfaces, and a NOx catalyst carriedly applied to the outside surface of the filter. n CONSTITUTION: A backwash type particulate filter 10 comprises a plurality of bores 13 whose one end is opened to form gas inflow ports 14 and the other end is opened to form gas outflow parts 15. The filter is made up of a gas- permeable ceramic filter 11 whose inside surfaces 16 of the bores 13 are used as filtering surfaces 18 and a NOx catalyst 12 being carriedly applied to the outside surface 17 of the filter 11. When exhaust gas passes through the gas- permeable ceramic filter 11, soot included in the exhaust gas is collected on the filtering surfaces 18, and NOx included in the exhaust gas is decomposed by the action of Cu-zeolite 12, so that the exhaust gas can be purified. Thus, the function of the catalyst can be maintained, and soot and harmful gas components included in the exhaust gas can be effectively reduced, and the efficiency for removing the harmful gas components can be enhanced. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
