titleOfInvention Socket for probe card
abstract PURPOSE: To realize the function of a zero force in an attachment/detachment of a probe card and to prevent an increase in a contact resistance due to wear by a method wherein slots are provided in a receptacle and a socket for probe card use is provided with an auxiliary substrate with the receptacle inserted in its hole of a diameter smaller than that of the tip of the receptacle. n CONSTITUTION: A receptacle 4 is a conical cylinder consisting of a conductive elastic material, such as an alloy or the like, and the tip of the receptacle 4 is split into 4 by slots 7-1 to 7-4. A hole for inserting the receptacle 4 is provided in an insulative auxiliary substrate 2. When a probe card 1 is mounted, the substrate 2 is brought close to the side of an insulative substrate 3. Whereupon, as the tip split into 1/4 of the receptacle is opened, a contact pin 6 of the probe card is inserted in the tip. Then, when the substrate 2 is moved to the side of the tip of the receptacle, the gaps between the slots are shrinked, the contact pin 6 is clamped and the contact of the receptacle to the probe card is made. A detachment of the card 1 is executed in a procedure reverse to this procedure. As the function of a zero force is realized in such a way, an increase in a contact resistance due to the wear of the contact surface of the receptacle is avoided. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
