titleOfInvention | Production of crosslinked polypropylene resin foam |
abstract | PURPOSE: To produce the title foam improved in dimensional stability in a high-temperature region by irradiating an expandable resin composition comprising a PP resin, a thermally decomposable blowing agent, a crosslinking aid and a specified alkoxysilane with an ionizing radiation and expanding the irradiated composition by heating. n CONSTITUTION: A mixture of 100 pts.wt. PP resin of an Ml of 1-12, a melting point of 140-160°C and an ethylene content of 1-5wt.% with 2-30 pts.wt. thermally decomposable blowing agent (e.g. azodicarbonamide), about 2 pts.wt. crosslinking aid (e.g. trimethylolpropane triacrylate), 1-10 pts.wt. alkoxysilane having at least one (meth) acryloyl group in the molecule (e.g. 3- methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) and optionally various additives is melt- kneaded at a temperature lower than the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent and molded into a sheet. This sheet is irradiated with an ionizing radiation of 1-20 Mrad and precrosslinked by heating to 70-140°C. The precrosslinked molding is finally heated to a temperature higher than the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent to obtain a crosslinked foam. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
