titleOfInvention Production of 2-alkoxycyclohexanol
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain in high efficiency the title compound important as an intermediate for medicines and pesticides without causing equipment corrosion or other problems in its purification by reaction between cyclohexene oxide and an alcohol using an inorganic solid acid catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: The objective 2-alkoxycyclohexanol can be obtained by reaction in a liquid phase between (A) cyclohexene oxide and (B) an excess amount of an alcohol in the presence of an inorganic solid acid catalyst (esp. pref. montmorillonite). Use of said catalyst will cause no equipment corrosion and highly simplify the separation of the present compound, thus being industrially advantageous. This catalyst will also cause no problem in the purification of the final compound, thereby being advantageous. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
