abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A protein which has about 27 kilodalton molecular weight by certification of SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, contains an amino acid sequence shown by the formula and has a collagen-like structure with a repeating unit shown by the formula Gly-X-Y (X and Y are arbitrary amino acid residue) in about 40 amino acid residue at the N end thereof. n USE: Having close relation to hinbernation of animal and being expected to contribute to control of sleeping function and adjustment of resistance of body to microbism, radiation, low temperature, etc. n PREPARATION: Blood of Asiatic chipmunk is collected, mixed with heparin to prevent coagulation and centrifuged to give plasma. The prepared plasma is fractionated by using gel filtration column by HPLC and a protein fraction corresponding to about 140 kilodalton molecular weight is collected. The fraction is concentrated, desalted and the prepared concentrated substance is subjected to slab gel electrophoresis of SDS-polyacrylamide gel to give a protein showing a single band and having about 27 kilodalton molecular weight. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
