titleOfInvention Production of 1,4-dicyanobutenes
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain compounds useful as a raw material for producing synthetic fiber, plastics, etc., in high selectivity with suppressed formation of by-products by subjecting acrylonitrile to dimerizing reaction in the presence of a phenolic compound having a specific structure and a catalyst. n CONSTITUTION: Acrylonitrile is reacted in the presence of a compound expressed by the formula (R 1 and R 5 are 3-10C alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy or aryl; R 2 to R 4 are H, 1-10C alkyl, alkoxy or aryl) in an inert gas atmosphere at -10 to +100°C using a phosphinite catalyst (e.g. isopropyl diphenyl phosphinite) or a phosphonite catalyst (e.g. diethyl phenyl phosphonite) to afford the subject compounds. 2,6-Di-tert-butylphenol is exemplified as the compound expressed by the formula. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
