PURPOSE:To obtain chloroform in high selectivity from carbon tetrachloride and hydrogen. CONSTITUTION:The objective chloroform can be obtained by reaction between carbon tetrachloride and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst of both metallic platinum and a lanthanoid metal oxide (e.g. lanthanum oxide) on a carrier (pref. consisting of silica or alumina). |
