abstract PURPOSE: To provide a crystalline fluoran compound having improved properties such as solubility in capsule oil and storage stability of a heat-sensitive recording paper. n CONSTITUTION: A crystal of a fluoran compound expressed by formula and characterized by an X-ray diffraction pattern having a strong peak at a diffraction angle (2θ) of 6.9° and a relatively strong peak at 19.4° by X-ray diffraction with Cu-Kα ray and a melting point of 159-161°C. It has improved solubility in a capsule oil for the preparation of a recording material. It is useful as a heat-sensitive recording material to give a recording paper having excellent whiteness and storage stability even by applying the material together with a color-developing agent to a paper, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
