abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a plant growth regulator having improved effects such as promotion of rooting of plant, prevention of lodging, improvement in yield, improvement in freeze resistance, preservation of freshness, increase in green, preservation of green, raising of good seedling, promotion of growth of organs, increase in number of tillering, shortening of growth period, reduction in phytotoxicity and improvement in rooting ratio of tree. n CONSTITUTION: A plant growth regulator comprising 5-aminolevulinic acid or a salt thereof as an active component and showing the above-mentioned effects because of exhibition of improving action on photosynthesis activity, improving action on CO 2 absorption, inhibitory action on breathing, improving action on content of chlorophyll and further growth promoting action. The plant growth regulator can be used for foliar treating agent, soil treating agent, etc., the concentration of the active ingredient is 1-1000ppm, especially 10-500ppm and 10-1,000l, especially 50-300l agent is used based on 10 ares in the case of foliage treating agent.
