abstract | PURPOSE: To improve homogeneity without subjecting alloy powders of Al and Li to a dissolving stage by mixing the respective alloy powders so as to attain a target alloy compsn. and sintering the mixture under pressurizing and heating while maintaining the uniformly and finely dispersed structure mixture in a vacuum or inert gas. n CONSTITUTION: The Li alloy powder of 3 to 10wt.% per 1wt.% of the Al alloy powder and stainless steel balls 12 are charged into a reaction vessel 10 and the inside of the vessel is evacuated to a vacuum under heating to remove the stains and sticking gases of the charged materials. The vessel is thereafter cooled down to room temp. and gaseous nitrogen 17 is packed therein. A dispersion aid is added to the mixture and a mechanical alloy treatment is executed for about 10 hours under agitation while cooling water is run around the vessel 10. The powders uniformly mixed with the Al and the Li are packed into a mold and are sintered by heating in the vacuum after pressure molding by this treatment.
