titleOfInvention High activity vanadium based catalyst
abstract PURPOSE: To provide a catalyst for producing an ethylene polymer excellent in catalyst activity and polymer productivity and having a wide mol. wt. distribution by treating a solid catalyst component of a vanadium-based catalyst with a specified polysiloxane oil as an activity regulator. n CONSTITUTION: A vanadium trihalide (e.g. vanadium trichloride) is reacted with an electron donor (e.g. tetrahydrofuran). Then, a solid granular porous inorg. carrier is impregnated with the resultant reaction product, a boron halide or alkylaluminum modifier and a polysiloxane oil activity modifier of formula I or II (wherein m is 0 to 100; n is 2 to 100; R 1 is H or a 1-20C monovalent hydrocarbon free of aliphatic unsaturation; and R 3 is halogen, R 1 , OR 1 or the like) to obtain a solid catalyst component. Then this component is combined with an alkylaluminum cocatalyst and a halohydrocarbon polymn. accelerator to form a catalyst system for ethylene polymn. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
