titleOfInvention | Production of polyolefin |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a polyolefin in high catalytic activity and good persistence of activity by polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a specified catalyst while controlling the ratio of the partial pressure of hydrogen in the vapor phase of the polymerization system to that of the monomer in the same phase. n CONSTITUTION: A catalyst of formula I (wherein R 1 is H or 1-4 C alkyl; R 2 is H, 1-5 C alkyl or alkyl having a substituted silicon group; and Ln is a metallic atom having an atomic number of 57-71 in the lanthanide series of the periodic table) is prepared by the reaction of a product, prepared by bringing an alkali (alkaline earth) metal salt (A) of a compound having a cyclopentadienyl substituent, an alkali (alkaline earth) metal compound (B) having an alkyl or aryl group and a lanthanum halide (C) into contact with each other at -200 to 200°C in a molar ratio of 0.5:(1-1.25):1 in an ethereal organic solvent, with component B in an amount to give a molar ratio to component C of 0.5-2. An olefin of formula II (wherein R is H or a 1-6 C hydrocarbon residue) is polymerized in the presence of this catalyst while the ratio of the partial pressure of hydrogen in the vapor phase to that of the monomer in the vapor phase is kept at 0.05-2. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
