abstract PURPOSE: To enhance sensitivity, to enlarge exposure latitude, and to enable handling under lighter safelight by incorporating a specified compound in an emulsion layer unit and spectrally sensitizing the unit in lights in various visible spectra and infrared spectra. n CONSTITUTION: Each emulsion layer contains a specified coupler and at least each of 2 of the unit contains thiocyanate or the like and a cyanine dye represented by formula I and each is spectrally sensitized in different visible spectra and infrared spectra. In formula I, I 11 is 0 or 1 and when it is 0, each of Z 11 and Z 12 is benzothiazole or the like, R 13 is ethyl or the like, and R 14 is H or the like; and when I 11 is 1, each of Z 11 and Z 12 is benzothiazole or the like, each of R 13 and R 15 is H or the like, R 14 is lower alkyl or the like; each of R 11 and R 12 is alkyl or the like; X 11 is a counter ion necessary to neutraize electric charge; and m 11 is 0 or 1. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
