abstract PURPOSE: To provide aluminum nitride powder having high water and chemical resistance. n CONSTITUTION: A layer 2 of an organosilicon compound having siloxane bonds is formed on the surface of aluminum nitride powder grains 1. The layer of the organosilicon compound is formed from a coating composition containing, e.g. (A) an oligomer solution of an organosilane obtained by partially hydrolyzing a hydrolyzable organosilane expressed by the General expressed by R 1 1 SiX 4-n in an organic solvent or an oligomer solution, containing dispersed silica of an organosilane and prepared by partially hydrolyzing the aforementioned hydrolyzable organosilane in colloidal silica dispersed in an organic solvent and water, (B) a polyorganosiloxane, expressed by the average composition formula R 2 a Si(OH) b O(4-a-b)/2 and containing silanol groups in the molecule and (C) a catalyst as essential components. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
