PURPOSE: To obtain a flameproof thermoplastic molding material by mixing a polyphenylene ether with a vinylaromatic polymer, etc., in a specified ratio. n CONSTITUTION: This material comprises 5-93.9 wt.%, desirably 5-40 wt.% polyphenylene ether [e.g. poly(2,6-dilauryl-1,4-phenylene ether)] having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.2-0.7 dl/g and an average molecular weight of 30,000-60,000. 5-93.9 wt.%, desirably 30-89 wt.% vinylaromatic polymer having a molecular weight of 1,500-2,000,000, 0.1-20 wt.%, desirably 1-5 wt.% aromatic sulfonamide represented by the formula (wherein R 1 and R 2 are each H or a 1-4C alkyl; and R 3 and R 4 are each H, a 1-10C alkyl or the like) (e.g. toluenesulfonamide), 1-30 wt.%, desirably 5-20 wt.% phosphorus-containing flameproofing agent and 0-60 wt.% other additives. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO |
