abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the separating membrane which has high hydrophilicity and has excellent fractionation property by using a graft polymer obtd. by subjecting a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) macromonomer having a specific structure to homopolymn. or copolymn. as the separating membrane. n CONSTITUTION: The separating membrane is constituted of the graft polymer having the constitutional unit expressed by formula I. In the formula, R 1 denotes a hydrogen atom or methyl group; (X) denotes a combination group of either one kind of -CO+O-R2- which bonds to S with R2 (2 to 20C alkylene group which may have a branch) or -CO+NR3-R2- (R5 denotes a hydrogen atom or 4C alkyl group); (PVA) denotes a univalent PVA polymer.
