titleOfInvention Biphenylyl compound
abstract PURPOSE: To provide a novel compd. that has an antihypertension aciton and is useful as a therapeutic medical component for a hypertension, cardiac failure, etc. n CONSTITUTION: The compd. of formula I (R 1 is an aliphat. hydrocarbon, alicyclic hydrocarbon, etc.; R 2 is 1H-tetrazol-5-yl, carboxy, amino, etc.; R 1 is carboxy, SO 3 , etc.; S is a starlight chain alkylene, etc.; rings A, B are unsubstd., the ring B bonds to the 4-position of the ring A to form biphenilyl, substd. with the aliphat. bydrocarbon, etc., interrupted by 0; (p), (q) are 1, (p) is 0 and (q) is 0, 1); for example, 3-carboxypropanic acid N-butyl-N-[2'-(1H-tetrazole-5-yl) biphenyl-4-ylmethyl]amide. The compd. of the formula I is obtd. by converting Z 1 of formula II (Z 1 a group which may be converted to R 3 ). This conversion is executed preferably at a temp. of -10 to 20°C in a suitable solvent (e.g.; xylene) under cooling or at room temp. or under heating. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
