abstract PURPOSE: To specifically obtain the title compound usable for prevention and treatment for angina pectoris, hypertension, etc., by acting an enzyme capable of subjecting either one of two carboxylic acid esters of a specific 1,4- dihydropyridine compound to asymmetric ester interchange reaction on the specific 1,4-dihydropyridine compound. n CONSTITUTION: An enzyme having ability capable of subjecting either one of a carboxylic acid ester bound to 3- and 5-position of 2,6-dimethyl-4-(3- nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid bis(2-nicotinoylaminoethyl) ester or salt thereof to asymmetric ester interchange reaction is acted on the above-mentioned ester or salt thereof in the presence of 3-nitroxypropyl alcohol and then the resultant product is purified by a silica gel column chromatography to provide the objective optically active (-)-2,6-dimethyl-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-1,4- dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylic acid 3-(2-nicotinoylaminoethyl) ester-5-(3- nitrooxypropyl)ester. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
