abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain an antithrombotic agent capable of treating or preventing thrombotic disease by acting on a vascular endothelial cell containing vitamin A. n CONSTITUTION: The objective antithrombotic agent containing vitamin A, e.g. retinol, retinal, retinoic acid, 3-dehydroretinol, 3-dehydroretinal or 3- dehydroretinoic acid as an active ingredient. The antithrombotic agent shifts balance of suppression and promotion of blood coagulation to suppression side and increases production of thrombomodwlin and simultaneously suppresses production of tissue thromboplastin and suppresses blood coagulation. The antithrombotic agent can further contain a substance such as heparin, t-PA or urokinase capable of exhibiting antithrombotic action.
