titleOfInvention Fungicide and fungistat comprising heterocyclic ring-substituted sulfones as base
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a fungicide and a fungistat useful for agriculture, showing strongly fungicidal and fungistatic effects on plant pathogenic fungi, comprising a specific heterocyclic substituted sulfone as an active ingredient. n CONSTITUTION: A heterocyclic substituted sulfone of the formula [Ar is a monosubstituted or a trisubstituted phenyl (substituted with a halogen, cyano, nitro, an alkyl, an alkoxy, an alkylthio or a halogen) or phenyl which may be monosubstituted or pentasubstituted (substitutable with a halogen or an alkyl); R is an alkyl; X is O or S] [with the proviso that 5-(2-chlorophenyl)- and 5-(3-nitrophenyl)-2-methylsulfonyl-1,3,4-oxadizole compound is omitted; e.g. 5-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-methylsulfonyl-1,3,4-oxadiazole, etc.] is used for controlling agricultural plant pathogenic fungi and molds. The compound is particularly useful as a plant protecting agent, especially as a fungicide and a fungistat. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
