abstract PURPOSE: To provide the title biodegradable polyester obtained by condensing tartaric acid, (polyhydric) alcohol and tetracarboxylic acid in the presence of an esterifying catalyst until becoming a specific K value. n CONSTITUTION: 25-75 (mol.) % of (anhydrous) tartaric acid or a mixture of 1:0.1-1:4 molar ratio of (anhydrous) tartaric acid and cirtric acid (A), 0-50 (mol.) % of monohydric or polyhydric alcohol, water-soluble poly-2-4C alkylene glycol or a water soluble addition product of 2-4C alkylene oxide to monohydric alcohol, polyhydric alcohol, fatty acid or alkylphenol (B) and 75-25 (mol.) % of butanetetracarboxylic acid or cyclopentanetetracarboxylic acid (C) are condensed at 120-180°C in the presence of an esterifying catalyst (D) up to a K value of 7-80. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
