titleOfInvention | Production of substituted thiodifluoromethyl-substituted aromatic compound |
abstract | PURPOSE: To efficiently produce the subject compound in high selectivity at a low cost by safely reacting and fluorinating a dithiocarboxylic acid ester with a quaternary ammonium dihydrogentrifluoride and a halonium ion generator under mild conditions. n CONSTITUTION: A quaternary ammonium dihydrogentrifluoride (e.g. tetramethylammonium dihydrogentrifluoride) expressed by formula I (R a to R d are alkyl) is reacted with an aromatic dithiocarboxylic acid ester (e.g. methyl 1-naphthalenedithiocarboxylate) expressed by formula II in the presence of a halonium ion generator such as 1,3-dibromo-5,5-dimethylhydantoin, N- bromosuccinimide or N-bromoacetamide to provide a substituted thiodifluoromethyl-substituted aromatic compound {e.g. 1-[difluoro(methylthio) methyl]naphthalene} expressed by formula III. The aforementioned method can be carried out by using a glass vessel and applied even to an unstable substrate under acidic conditions. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
