titleOfInvention Polycyclic hydroxyindole derivative
abstract PURPOSE: To provide the subject compound useful for agricultural chemicals, drugs, decomposable polymers, various recording material, etc. n CONSTITUTION: A compound of the formula (R 2 -R 6 , R x , R y are H, alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, aryloxy, substituted amino, acyl, halogen, etc.; R 5 and R 6 , R 2 and R 3 and R 4 , and R x and R y can be combined with each other to form 4-8 membered rings, respectively; the connecting bonds X and Y are divalent organic groups required for forming a 4-15 membered ring), e.g. 11H-benzo [a]carbazole-8-ol-, 5, 6,-dihydro-11-phenylamine. The compound is obtained by reacting a phenol compound having a cyclic unaturated double bond at the m-position with a diazonium salt in a basic atmosphere and subsequently treating the reaction product with an acid. The compound is useful as an image-forming system utilizing the reducing property of the dihydro compound, as a stable radical and radical quencher in the form of the DPPH analogous compound of the anilino-substituted indole derivative, as a carbazole derivative or an intermediate for photoconductors, couplers, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
