titleOfInvention Dihalogeno cyano compound, liquid crystal composition and liquid crystal electrooptical element
abstract PURPOSE: To provide a novel dihalogenocyano compound employed as a liquid crystal electrooptical element, having extremely high positive dielectric anisotropy, excellent compatibility with other liquid crystal materials or non- liquid crystal materials and excellent chemical stability and suitable for lowering a voltage for driving liquid crystals, etc. n CONSTITUTION: A dihalogenocyano compound of formula I [A 1 -A 3 are trans-1,4- cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene (capable of being substituted with one or more of halogen, methyl and nitrile groups); Y 1 , Y 2 are COO, O, OCO, CH 2 CH 2 , CH=CH, single, etc.; R is H, alkyl (capable of being substituted); X 1 , X 2 are Cl, F; m, n are 0.1], e.g. a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is produced, e.g. by reacting a compound of formula III with a 2,6-dihalogeno-4- hydroxybenzonitrile of formula IV in the presence of an alkali. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
