abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain an amorphous, colorless, transparent, heat-resistant and melt-moldable alicyclic polyamide by polymerizing a specified diamine with a specified dibasic acid or its derivative. n CONSTITUTION: A polyamide comprising repeating units of formula III is obtained by polymerizing a diamine of formula I with a dibasic acid or a derivative thereof of formula II. In the formulas, R is H or 1-10C alkyl; X is phenyl, cyclohexyl or -(CH 2 ) 2 -; m is 2-10; and M is OH, halogen or 1-4C alkoxy. Examples of the dismine include m-aminocyclohexylamine and α-(3- aminocyclothexy)methylamine.
