titleOfInvention | Asymmetric reduction of ketone compound |
abstract | PURPOSE: To inexpensively and simply produce and separate an optically active alcohol having different absolute configuration by subjecting a prochiral ketone compound to asymmetric reduction using a specific optically active ligand in an extremely small amount. n CONSTITUTION: A ketone compound, particularly aromatic ketone such as phenylmethyl ketone, phenylethyl ketone or phenylpropyl ketone is subjected to asymmetric reduction reaction into an optically active alcohol in the presence of 3-amide-2-hydroxybornane of exo body or endo body expressed by the formula at-100 to 100°C, preferably and temperature close to room temperature to provide an optically active alcohol having different absolute configuration. The compound expressed by the formula is preferably used in an amount of 0.01-0.5 equivalent weight per weight of ketone compound by selection of axo body or end body of the compound expressed by the formula. Borane is preferably used as a reducing agent and in this case, borane is previously added to the compound expressed by the formula in an equivalent amount and used as a complex. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
