titleOfInvention | Cleavage of ester group of cephalosporins |
abstract | PURPOSE: To cleave ester group mildly in one step with minimum decomposition of cephalosporins bringing a specific substrate into contact with lithium iodide in the reaction mixture which contains a substantial concentration of acetonitrile. n CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula II (X is CH 2 or S; R 1 is H or an amino protecting group, etc.; R 2 is Cl, Br or methyl; R 3 is H or a 1-4C alkoxy, etc.) is obtained by bringing the substrate of formula I (R 4 is methyl or ethyl) into contact with lithium iodide in the reaction mixture which contains a substantial concentration of acetonitrile. The amount of lithium iodide to be added is 2-7 mole per mole of objective product, and the solvent used for reaction is comprised of 0-20% of an aprotic solvent and 80-100% of acetonitrile. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO |
