abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a new fluoran compound useful as a coloring agent for pressure-sensitive recording material and heat-sensitive recording material, reacting with an electron acceptor coupler and changing from blackish green to reddish black. n CONSTITUTION: A compound shown by the formula (R 1 is 1-4C alkyl; R 2 is 5-6C alkyl; R 3 is 1-4C alkyl) such as 2-(N-methyl-3,4-dichloroanilino)-6-N-methyl- N-n-amylaminofluoran. The compound shown by the formula is obtained by reacting 2-(2-hydroxy-4-N-ethyl-N-isomaylaminobenzoyl)benzoic acid with N- methyl-3',4'-dichloro-4-methoxydiphenylamine in the presence of a condensation agent (e.g. conc. sulfuric acid), treating the prepared reaction product with an aqueous solution of alkali (e.g. aqueous solution of caustic soda) and purifying with a solvent such as toluene. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
