titleOfInvention Aromatic compound and production thereof
abstract PURPOSE: To provide the title new compound having in one molecule both carbonyl and sulfone groups, highly reactive and industrially obtainable at a low cost, suitable as a raw material for highly heat-resistant polymers such as polyethers. n CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula I (X is Cl or F), for example, 4,4'-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)diphenylsulfone. The present compound can be obtained by reaction between (A) a halogenated benzene of formula II and (B) a 4,4'-sulfonyldibenzoyl halide of formula III (Y is halogen) in the presence of a catalyst such as AlCl 3 , BF 3 , HF or SnCl 4 . n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
