PURPOSE: To obtain the title resin improved in melt flow, blocking resistance, etc., by reacting terephthalic acid (lower alkyl ester) with a linear alkylene glycol to obtain a product specified in melting point, softening temperature and acid value. n CONSTITUTION: At least 50mol% monomer mixture of terephthalic acid (lower alkyl ester) (e.g. dimethyl terephthalate) with a 2-6C linear alkylene glycol (e.g. ethylene glycol) and optionally a monomer (mixture) comprising a dicarboxylic acid other than the above acid and a diol other than the above glycol are esterified or transesterified. The product is polymerized while distilling off diol components in a vacuum of 150mmHg or below to obtain the title resin comprising a polyester polymer having a melting point of 200°C, a softening temperature of 150°C or below and an acid value of 20mmKOH/g or below. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
