titleOfInvention | Production of titanium compound whisker |
abstract | PURPOSE: To improve quality by using a substrate containing one or more of Ni, Co, Fe and Cr and one or more of carbides, nitrides and carbonitrides of group IVa, Va and VIa elements, Al 2 O 3 and ZrO 2 and further a metallic compound having a specific crystal grain diameter. n CONSTITUTION: One or more metallic powders of Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, etc., having ≤5μm average grain diameter and one or more of carbides, nitrides and carbonitrides such as TiC or TiN of group IVa, Va and VIa elements of the periodic table, Al 2 O 3 and ZrO 2 are mixed in a prescribed proportion. The resultant mixture is subsequently pulverized and an adequate amount of a binder is then added and mixed. The obtained mixture is subsequently formed and burned in a vacuum or an inert gas such as Ar to provide a substrate containing a metallic compound having ≤5μm average crystal grain diameter. The resultant substrate is then cut with a grindstone and arranged in a furnace of a chemical vapor growth method and raw material gases such as TiCl 4 , methane and H 2 are introduced and heated at about 1000°C. Thereby, the objective titanium compound whisker such as TiC is deposited on the substrate and obtained. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
