abstract | PURPOSE: To continuously produce diaryl carbonate in high yield and selectivity. n CONSTITUTION: A diaryl carbonate is produced from (a) a dialkyl carbonate and (b) an aromatic hydroxy compound. In the process, the following steps are carried out. The first step; for continuously feeding the compounds (a) and (b) to the first continuous multi-stage distillation column 1 having communicated reactor (A) to (D) installed on the outside, continuously taking the produced low-boiling components in a gaseous form out of the aforementioned distillation column, simultaneously and continuously taking high-boiling components in a liquid form containing formed alkyl aryl carbonates out of the column bottom and the second step; for continuously feeding the taken out liquid from the column bottom of the first step to the second continuous multi-stage distillation column 20 having communicated reactors (E) to (H) provided on the outside, continuously taking low-boiling components in a gaseous form containing the produced component (a) out of the above-mentioned distillation column, feeding the aforementioned taken out low-boiling components to the first multi-stage distillation column 1, simultaneously and continuously taking high-boiling components in a liquid form containing the produced diaryl carbonate out of the column bottom. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
