titleOfInvention | Partially fluorinated biphenyls, their production and their use |
abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a new partially fluorinated biphenyls used as the intermediates of synthesis of partially fluorinated monomers and partially fluorinated polycondensates. n CONSTITUTION: This compd. is expressed by formula I (R is OH, 1 to 4C alkyl; R' is H, 1 to 4C alkyl), for example, 4,4'-bis-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)- hexafluoroisopropyl]-biphenyl. The compd. is obtd. by bringing, for example, 1mol 4,4'-bis-[hexafluoro-2-hydroxy-2-propy]-biphenyl of formula II into condensation with at least 2mol compd. of formula II. The compd. is used in production of the monomers used as the components of the partially fluorinated polycondensates and more preferably partially fluorinated polyester, polyamide and polyimide. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO |
