titleOfInvention | Production of epoxy alcohol of high optical purity |
abstract | PURPOSE: To efficiently produce the subject compound used for synthesizing a raw material, etc., for a physiologically active substance by allowing a lipase and carboxylic acids to act on an epoxidation reaction mixture containing a chiral epoxy alcohol and its enantiomer, and separating the formed ester. n CONSTITUTION: This method for enhancing optical purity of an epoxidation reaction mixture containing a major amount of the first chiral epoxy alcohol of the formula (R 1 to R 4 are each H, a 1-18C alkyl, an aryl or an aralkyl), etc., and a miner amount of the second chiral epoxy alcohol, which is a enantiomer of the first chiral alcohol, comprises reacting the epoxidation reaction mixture with a lipase enzyme, and a carboxylic acid derivative such as an enol ester, a saturated ester and a carboxylic acid in an amount and a condition, in which the second chiral epoxy alcohol is preferentially converted to an epoxy ester, and separating the first chiral epoxy alcohol from the epoxy ester to provide the objective compound. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO |
