PURPOSE: To obtain confectionery that dissolves in the mouth and is excellent in taste by incorporating a volatile oil and such an amt. of a masking agent mildly controlling the volatile oil and reducing bitter as to improve the sensory characteristics of the volatile oil when it is released in the mouth. n CONSTITUTION: A volatile oil such as menthol and a masking agent mildly controlling the volatile oil and reducing bitter selected from among fenchone, borneol and isoborneol are incorporated into confectionery. The amt. of the masking agent is regulated to such a degree that the masking agent is not sensitively detectable in the mouth but can improve the sensory characteristics of the volatile oil when it is released in the mouth.
