PURPOSE: To provide the title novel compound useful as an antifouling ingredient for low pollutant aquatic antifouling compositions free from heavy metals for preventing aquatic fouling organisms from latching. n CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of a water-soluble salt such as dodecylguanidine hydrochloride is neutralized with an alkyli (e.g. NaOH), and an acid selected from rosin, oleic acid, naphthenic acid and salicylic acid is added, in the form of a xylene solution, to the resulting system followed by reaction for several hours under heating. The xylene layer is then separated from the resultant system washed with water and distilled the solvent off, thus obtaining the objective poorly water-soluble salt of dodecylguanidine whose solubility to water is ≤0.1mg/ml at room temperature. An aquatic antifouling agent can be prepared by incorporating a total of 10 pts.wt. of the final product with 3-30 pts.wt. of said salt as active ingredient. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio |
