titleOfInvention Production of high para-novolak resin
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the subject resin excellent in heat resistance and moisture resistance and useful for grindstone, etc., by bringing an aldehyde into contact with a mixed solution that is adjusted to a strong acid pH region by mixing a catalyst with phenol in a prescribed temperature range. n CONSTITUTION: A phenolic compound such as phenol is mixed with a catalyst such as sulfuric acid or sulfamic acid to adjust to a pH of ≤0.5. The adjusted mixed solution is catalytically reacted with an aldehyde such as formaldehyde at 60-95°C, preferably 70-90°C, to provide the objective resin. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
