abstract PURPOSE: To efficiently produce a magnetic fluid by stably dispersing fine particles of ferrite, etc., in base oil having a low vapor pressure at a high concentration. n CONSTITUTION: An emulsion is formed under a heated and stirred condition by adding a solution prepared by dissolving polybutenyl imidotetraethylene pentamine succinate which is a surface active agent in a hydrocarbon solvent to the suspension of fine particles of ferrite, etc., prepared by coprecipitation after the suspension is irradiated with ultrasonic waves. After the surface active agent is attracted to the fine particles, the water and hydrocarbon solvent are removed by evaporation. Then this magnetic fluid is manufactured by dispersing the remaining fine particles of the ferrite, etc., respectively coated with adsorption layers of the surface active agent in base oil having a low vapor pressure. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
