abstract PURPOSE: To provide the subject new compound useful as a substrate for the efficient and accurate determination of N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase activity and as an active component of an enzymatic activity determination reagent for the diagnosis and follow-up of various renal diseases. n CONSTITUTION: The objective N-acetyl-β-D-glucosamine derivative of formula III (e.g. 6'-O-carboxymethyl-2',7'-dichlorofluoresceinyl-N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminide) can be produced by reacting (A) a halogeno-N-acetyl-D-glucosamine derivative of formula I (Ac is acetyl; Y is halogen) with (B) a fluorescein compound of formula II [R 1 is Y (Y is 1-4C substituted alkyl) having X (X is OH, carboxyl, sulfonic acid or phosphoric acid group) or substituted phenyl having X or Y; R 2 to R 4 are H, halogen or nitro] (e.g. 2',7'-dichlorofluorescein.carboxymethyl ether) in acetonitrile in the presence of silver oxide. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO&Japio
