abstract PURPOSE: To provide a new carboxylic acid salt derivative having bio- degradability as well as chemical degradability, exhibiting excellent environmental safety and useful as a decomposable surfactant. n CONSTITUTION: A carboxylic acid salt derivative of formula I (R 1 is 6-30C alkyl or alkylaryl; R 2 is 1-17C alkyl or alkyloxyalkylene; R 3 is 0-7C alkylene; n is 1 or 2; M n+ is alkali metal ion or ammonium ion when n=1 and is alkaline- earth metal ion when n=2).
