abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an oral cavity hygienic composition inert during storage, but enabling the dental enamel to be brightened when activated for service and capable of preventing periodontitis. n CONSTITUTION: This oral cavity hygienic composition contains magnesium peroxide and magnesium hydroxide. The amount of the magnesium hydroxide to be used relatively to that of the magnesium peroxide to be used is an enough level to make this composition alkaline to enable it be inertly stored in such an ordinary state as not to be in contact with saliva, and this composition is also characterized in that it becomes acidic through its reaction with the saliva in the mouth when it is put on the surface of the teeth and gingiva and is activated when reacted with the saliva in the mouth to effect releasing active oxygen from the magnesium peroxide. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
