abstract | PURPOSE: To provide an internal combustion engine to work on the hydrogen basis of such a structure that a cylinder chamber is formed from a main piston and a main cylinder to make movement in the stroke direction between the upper and lower dead points and meantime the four strokes of combustion take place, i.e., suction, compression, expansion, and exhaust, in which the problem of immature ignition is solved without requiring formation of an internal mixture gas due to a later put-in of hydrogen nearly at the final stage of the compression stroke. n CONSTITUTION: An internal combustion engine includes an auxiliary piston 44 and aux. cylinder 42 capable of relative movement in the same phase as and synchronously with a main piston 12 and main cylinder 10. The aux. piston and aux. cylinder constitute a cylinder chamber 66 which minimizes at the upper dead point and maximizes at the lower dead point. The piece having the minimum cylinder chamber 66 is put in communication with the main cylinder chamber 36 in the minimum condition and hydrogen is put into the cylinder chamber during the suction stroke. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO |
